Introduction to Theories of Child Development

This three-hour course is designed to review and explain the key child development theories in early education and their importance to the field.

In this work, we explore several theories that have influenced early education. We review the theories of Piaget, Vygotsky, Erikson, Montessori, and Gardner, as well as the philosophies of learning derived from their works. We will also examine how these systems function within the various structures that shape our early education classrooms. A quiz at the end of each module tests your knowledge as you progress.
