Creativity in the Early Childhood Classroom CDA 1.16

Creativity involves generating novel ideas in alternative, previously unimagined ways. It engages curiosity, risk-taking, and imagination. Creative behavior must be original, relevant, fluent (occurs frequently and with ease) and flexible (uses nontraditional approaches) (Isenberg and Jalongo 2010).

In this class we will learn the following ways to support children’s creativity:

  • Designing Environments That Promote Creativity
  • Supporting Creativity Through Daily Interactions and Experiences
  • Promoting Creativity Through the Visual Arts
  • Fostering Creativity Through Music and Movement
  • Encouraging Creativity Through the Dramatic Arts
