Description
This 3-hour course aims to explore the many aspects of keeping children safe. It provides important information on the significance of supervision, identifies silent hazards that can be life-threatening, and offers strategies to eliminate these risks. Additionally, the course discusses new recommendations for safe sleep and outlines how to monitor and manage safety within the program. At the end of each module, a quiz will assess your knowledge as you advance through the material.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, early childhood educators will be able to:

Explain active supervision and apply its six key strategies to prevent injuries and support positive interactions.

Implement developmentally appropriate health, safety, and supervision practices during daily routines, play, and mealtimes in compliance with state and federal regulations.

Identify, assess, and reduce indoor and outdoor hazards to maintain safe learning environments.

Teach children essential safety skills, including fire, water, pedestrian, and poison safety.

Prevent and respond to common safety risks such as choking, suffocation, strangulation, and exposure to environmental toxins.
